On March 31, 2024, Madelia Optometric moved into a new space. The property (located at 18 Benzel Ave NW) was originally built in the mid-1900s by Janet & Howard Dysthe as a Standard (later Amoco) gas station. Since that time it underwent many renovations, including the addition of a carwash. The property has in the time been much more than just a gas station – it was also a golf store, a quilting shop, and most recently home to the Madelia Times Messenger. The building has undergone extreme renovation of both the interior and exterior, and will soon be fitted as a brand-new and freshly designed state-of-the-art facility for Madelia Optometric. The new space is equipped with multiple full-scope examination rooms as well as a large pre-testing room, a larger optical dispensing area, and additional wheelchair-accessible facilities. While an extreme renovation of the building was required to turn it into a proper space for an optometry practice, we have aimed to maintain some of the historical aspects of the building, and you will find information in the new location about the history of the space!
